What is Thyroid disorder? Causes, and Treatments: The Thyroid is a butterfly-shaped gland present in the neck for all human beings.

This endocrine gland plays an important role in the body’s actions such as heart rate, burning calories, breathing, digestion and other metabolic functions.

An adequate amount of thyroid hormone is essential for the brain development of babies and children.

Iodine is necessary for the thyroid gland to produce hormones. T3 (Triiodothyronine) and T4 (thyroxine) are two main hormones secreted by the thyroid.

These two hormones are controlled by Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH). TSH only stimulates the thyroid gland to produce T3 & T4.
